Village of Franklin Website History

On November 22nd, 1999 the Village of Franklin website was officially launched.  The site began as part of an American Technology Honor Society project of Blake Wood's at Franklin High School.

The process of forming the site began with getting all the information necessary to put together the site.  Letters were sent out to all of the businesses in the Franklin area asking them if they'd be interested in being listed in the business directory.  Then designing the site began.  The burgoo man graphic was scanned off the front of Wayne M. Rolston's 1982 Franklin history book.  Sherine Turpin a then junior at Franklin High School took the image and added the fire and stirring effects.  What you see below is the first version of the site designed by Blake Wood in November of 1999.

The Original Design of the Village of Franklin Website

In early August of 2000 the Village of Franklin website was redesigned to look as it does today.  Many changes have occurred since the site first started.  For the first year and a half the site was hosted on the "csj.net" server.  CityScape Jacksonville donated the webspace, but was later bought out by Motion Internet in 2001.  Problems started to occur shortly after.  On June 14th, 2001 the site got a new address "www.franklinil.com" which is hosted free of charge by LocalNetCo.com of Jacksonville.  The only cost involved in getting the new address was the $35.00 domain registration fee which the Village of Franklin paid for.  The site continues to grow even now.  Hope you enjoyed visiting!
