An Ordinance Establishing Speed Limits

WHEREAS, the Village Board of the Village of Franklin has determined that it would be in the best interest of the residents of the Village to establish speed limits.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Village Board of the Village of Franklin, Morgan County, Illinois, as follows:

Section 1. Speed Limit on Streets
It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle on any street not under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour.

Section 2. Speed Limit on Alleys
It shall be unlawful to drive any motor vehicle on any alley at a speed in excess of 15 miles per hour.

Section 3. Fine
Any person found guilty of violating this ordinance shall pay a fine of $75.00, plus applicable court costs.

Section 4. Effective Date
This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage and publication as required by law.
